What a day... We booked on-line tickets from Kandy to Colombo as pleased to see blue line was running again and wanted to enjoy the experience after only being able to get 2nd class reserved for our other travels. Ten emails and trying to get somebody to answer the phone at Rajadhani failed to provide the correct reference for us to pick up our tickets at Kandy station. Result 3,600 rupees stolen from us.... As we needed to meet our flight from Colombo we went again to Kandy railway station with the hope of booking a 1st class or 2nd class reserved ticket. Amazingly we were told tickets were available on the Blueline, another 3,600 rupee but at least we would have A/C and comfortable seating. Well that’s how it is supposed to be!!! Train was on time. Boarding the carriage we noticed extreme hot, ask the attendant if the AC would be turned on when we departed only to be notified AC not working. Three hours of hell in hot stuffy carriage. Awful experience.
