SCAM!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!!! Charge you twice as much, the Tuk Tuk driver there rips you off! I’ve been waiting on a refund for a month now and have contacted Ringo one of the guys who worked there with no response! This place is dodgy!!
Do not buy anything from here. You will be approached by many people on streets telling you that there is a exhibition and a tuk tuk driver will take you there in a very meager price. Do not beleieve them. Its a scam be extra careful. Advised to insist on NSJA- GTL certificate with photograph of gem stone before buying any product. We were also trapped but were sensible enough to return the gem stones though with great difficulty and with the help of Police. Police was very cooperative and we were able to get our our credit card payment reversal letter to bank. The mental trauma we underwent was tremendous and missed our flight to India due to them.
Hai ..I am from india. recently I was on tour to Sri Lanka. and I visited to kandy Nuwaraeilya and galle. I have visited several Gem shops. but I'm not satisfy with the prices and stones. @ last by hotel receptionist Direct me to a Shop which is calling Ceylon Gem bureau. Colombo. I saw few stones and compare the prices are reasonable with genuine certificates I purchased 2 sapphires. back home I Checked with our Jeweler he said the stones are worth more than which I paid.
Scam!! Tuk Tuks and random people tell you there is a special Sale of 50% off on this place. Then they just try to make a hard sell. I bought a "white Sapphire" from them, got it tested and it was just Crystal. I struggle to get my money back, but got it at the end. Don't go to this place, it just ruins the reputation of Sri Lanka. If you want to buy Gems, I suggest to go to World Trade Center.
SKAMMERS! They now call themselves Lanka Gem & Jewellery Exchange
This place is known for scams! They work with people who will approach you on the street. These people are very pleasant to talk to and will tell you it's a special Buddhist holiday in Sri Lanka and visit a temple with you. The stranger will offer to go by tuk tuk and tell you to use 'government tuk tuks' (they don't exist). He will bring you to a gem shop like this one where you are sold fakes or inferior, overpriced stones. Do not fall for this scam! Afterwards the stranger and tuk tuk driver will try to rip you off even further!
