Before you go to DMT, make an appointment with them by making a telephone call. You will be asked about your phone number and NIC number etc. Read all the instructions and prepare all the documents for your need. This may change according to normal and oneday service. (There are outsiders who always offering help for you) Bring adequate/additional amount of money with you. If you are going to transfer the ownership from 1st owner to the second, you will be need to pay additional 3000LKR. On the appointment day, you will be given a token with a referance number. They will announce your number and counter number accordingly. There are complimentary services such as canteen, police station, photocopy shop and a milk shop located within the DMT premises. However, you have to park your vehicle outside the DMT premises, which is allways crowded and bustling with city traffic.

Slow as always. I didn't see any improvement. Even though you get an appointment, you will still have to wait for hours sometimes. Better to take a day off and go to this place.

Make sure all the paperwork is in order and it will go smoothly. Staff were supportive. Pretty crowded even with an appointment system in place. Parking is scarce, so better to take public transport. If you still want to drive, Illegal parking can be done in the lanes close to DMT. However, the first few lanes close to DMT are controlled by some guys and they charge money for you parking there. This can be avoided by parking further away inside lanes.

Went for an ownership transfer. Pre appointment system works fine. But recommended to obtain an early morning appointment. Efficient staff but you must have the ability to go and get things done. Token system doesn't work well inside the DMT. One day service paper work finished within 30 minutes & book was given after 12pm

I was nervous, I was sweating, I was definitely pessimistic, when I went to get my vehicle transfer done. But I was pleasantly surprised by the efficient service. You have to pre-book and go. You won't be allowed in otherwise. I spent a total of around one hour to get the job done. Double and triple check your document before you leave for any typos.

Excellent Service - RMV ONE DAY MOTOR CAR service facility has improved a lot. The incharge of the place (SO) and a superving lady outside the counter actively involving from early hours of the day (prior to start the working hours ) to direct the public who came for work. Also the general staff of the unit also comparatively effective and efficient to attend the matter and close the job fastest. The only concern is the space and the capacity of the place. Thy need a specious place . But in overall excellent service and improved a lot. Hats off to commissioner and the leadership .

Very poor. Really disappointed. Should focus on their organising first.
