Founded in 1870 this is the second oldest medical school in south asia. Each year it recruits a batch of about 200 students from General Certificate of Education Advanced Level examination conducted in Sri Lanka which is a pretty competitive one. Those who are selected here are the top rankers in the above examination. Undergraduate MBBS course takes close to 6 years to complete here with outstanding clinical exposure given from National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Lady Ridgeway hospital for children, De zoysa and castle street maternity hospitals and many more. The aim of the faculty is to produce doctors with competence, compassion and care.
One of the best medical facilities in srilanka. And this is the best and the hardest medical university to enter for a student in srilanka cause there is a great fight for the advance lwvwl examination. How ever if they can expand the students they are getting annually there will be more doctors to this island.
