I am a father of a student who has completed the hnd in software engineering. Well, i am not here to blame anyone or stop anyone from joining icbt. But the following things i mention should be strictly taken into consideration. The course contents are very low and the students seem to have a very low understanding about the subject matter. The worst part is that the students are not allowed to use any framework nor any lecturers mention about any of them. I mean in the industry everything is done using frameworks and students from icbt seem to know nothing. I have reffered to few other institutions syllabuses and all clearly mentions that frameworks are taught under industrial standards. The next thing is that some lecturers does not seem to knw what they even teach and some modules were started even without an introduction to them. Talking regarding the module contents. Why isnt any maths for programming module included ? And what is the purpose of having modules like ecommerce in such a software engineering program. So finally i want to say that the academic department of icbt should strictly take actions to alter a good course content and use most updated version of technologies inorder to teach students rather than this outdated (useless) syllabus.
