According to the Archeological Department, this place believed to be the detention room of the last Kandyan King Sri Wicrama Rajasinghe who was captured by conquering British in 1815. After a shorter period of detention, the King was deported to Maddras, India. Although this has significant value to the Srilankan history, this place is hidden among the giant sky scrapers of the bustling Colombo city in the car park of Ceylinco building.

This is an important place of our ancient Sri Lankan Kingdom. But as I feel is necessary protection is not given by the authorities. Hopefully with the development people may remove the monument.

It's in the shadow of the World Trade Center towers and the Bank Of Ceylon tower and right next to the Kingsbury Hotel and Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct. The monument is also literally in the Ceylinco parking lot.
