We needed to make some changes to the booking dates and these guys were great co-operating with us. They had great level of communication and hospitality was awesome. The rooms looked big and comfy with a clean bathroom. Their room access card system seemed a little bit unnecessarily troublesome with the card needing to be in the switch to turn on all the appliances including the A/C. The room service was pretty good and the staff was very kind and courteous. The buffet was served for all three meals, had a twist of Sri Lankan and western dishes. The resort also offered safaris to Minneriya lake national park. They were also kind enough to extend our stay till 2PM free of charge so we can get rejuvenated after the safari before checking out. Overall this was a great hotel and absolutely a great bang for the buck. We had a group of 8 people and we booked 4 rooms and the total for everything including food and beverages were only about 650 which was incredibly cost effective. We highly recommend this place!

This property has clean and spacious rooms. The bathroom is also spacious. But the shower pressure is slow and whole floor area gets wet after a shower as there is no cubical/ separator for the shower area. The room amenities and the services provided is reasonable for the price you pay. They have a nice pool bar with a good selection of cocktails. They also have a happy hour from 4 p.m to 9 p.m. During the happy hour you can buy 2 cocktails and get the third one free. They have a small breakfast buffet with a decent selection of food for a price of 1400 per person. The restaurant staff is not friendly and helpful for the Sri Lankans. But They were very attentive to the questions/needs of the foreigners. The front office staff of this place is very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this place if you are going on a budget trip as the service they offer is better for the price you pay.

Five stars for the really friendly and helpful hotel staff. The pool and the area around it is really nice. Pool with bar. Rooms have air condition and are reasonable clean and in ok shape. Internet worked well. Breakfast we did not see since we slept in, so we only got a small breakfast for us - nice from the staff.

We were a big family crowd that stayed there for 2 nights in the sinhala new year holidays. The rooms were neat and air conditioned which worked well. The rooms were spacious too. Limen was clean and the fridge in the room was a welcome thing. However the cleanliness in the dining room was lacking very badly. Every single of the straw lampshades were full of cobwebs and guests who didnt notice would have there plates right below it at meal times. The entire restaurant very badly need a clean up!! The restaurant is very dark at dinner time and I wonder if they leave it that way to hide whats not supposed to be seen. The staff was friendly and very accommodating.

Great experience! The best accommodation we had in Sri Lanka. Staff is exceptional here: * From the first moment when we got out from bus, they took our luggage and bring them to the reception. * In the waiting time for check in we received a very tasty tea, so we didn't know when the time flew. * After the room was ready, they carry our luggage to our room, making our life easier. * The entire staff from reception, restaurant and bar are really kind with tourists and they are speaking very well English. Room condition: * Clean with everything you need, including minibar and hair dryer. Relax: * Swimming pool & jacuzzi are really nice and you can enjoy them till mid of the night or maybe more.:) * Pool bar with a nice variety of tasty cocktails. Meal: * We tried lunch and dinner and it was very good. Overall: * You can find here a lot of tours, we tried the one to the Sigirya early in the morning and it was the best sunrise we ever seen. Asita was our guide and beside doing this very well, he is also a very good photographer. * We a got a free transportation from the hotel to the bus station from Dambulla.

I would definitely recommend staying at Sundaras Resort. My stay was amazing, welcoming and fun. Sindu at front desk is fabulous, checked us in early and was so welcoming and attentive. The room was clean and spacious. Pool side was relaxing with a great happy hour! If you want a mixture of culture, local safari trips and relaxation with happy hour, this is the place for you!

The resort is pleasing in that overgrown, unkempt style we all love so much. The pool is refreshing; a definite plus. The staff was helpful, but it felt as if resources were low and therefore, you get what you get. No complaints really, the price point was exactly right. Paying a dollar ( or thirty) more during peak tourist times of yore would have felt completely out of line, and this review would have been different. Example: The a/c felt like a gentle breeze blowing over a few ice cubes, and cooled the room accordlingly. However, SriLankan evenings seem to require something on a more industrial scale. Not here. Soft bed though. Times being what they are, this hotel is a good choice for the budget traveller.
