Lucian was a great host and made our stay very pleasant. The facilities were great and Lucian's cooking was both authentic & delicious. We were able to do laundry & he arranged a massage therapist to come on site. We had a tour of the property & can see there are lots of extra features (like a meditation garden) coming in the future. Lucian is also keen to see the beginnings of the ayruvedic garden come to fruition. We enjoyed playing cards with him, and he has a great selection of books. We got lost on the way, & a quick call had Lucian coming to our rescue - we were so close!!

This little retreat offers all you need if you are searching for nature, welcoming hosts, very good food (you can look over their shoulders to learn more about all the ingredients) and great tracks. It up the hill at the end of a small road. In the morning you can hear the nearby monks from the temple. The rooms are simple, with all you need. Tours are offered around the beautiful village, to waterfalls and up and down the hills.

I loved my stay at the pepper cottage. A perfect little break away instead of staying in Kandy. Host Lucian made amazing food and I got to visit some incredible local sites that nobody would usually go to. To anyone thinking of avoiding Kandy, this is a perfect place to stay!

Homely secluded place in nature. The rich rainforest surroundings are a welcome break from the bustle of Sri Lankan streets. Lucian the “caretaker”/cook/guide has excellent English and enjoys showing the different plants and wildlife. The food has been excellent and the trips too. The Dutch owners were also around when we stayed and were fun, interesting and welcoming. Highly recommend.
