Ideal place to have a cave adventure. It’s bit scary sometimes when you go down. Must take a guide with you. It’s impossible to find your way on your own. The initial bit was the toughest as it is a direct descend for about 50m. Guide puts a rope also to help the climb down. There after the path is fine and you’ll be amazed by the size of the cave system. The initial half is very muddy and filled with bat poop. You must strictly follow the foot steps of the guide since if something goes wrong no one knows where you’ll end up. Within about 45mins you can reach the pond. And you will be out of words once you see the crystal clear water surface. Do not try this if you are faint hearted as it is a very mysterious feeling you get once you are inside. Bathing at the pond is also not recommended as there are plenty of unknowns and if something happens you are 200 ft directly below the surface and no one would be able to reach out to help you in a short time. Be careful and focus on your path and you will be quite fine. Must do thing in Sri Lanka for sure.

Perfect place if you are looking for a adventurous tour
One of the most adventures things in srilanka. But if you are scared to heights, this is not recommended.
Underground pond wwhich is located near Rawana Falls. You have to spent 30-45 minutes to reach the pond. Take a guide is compalsary, if it it not sure you are get lost among darkness. Guide will be provided Head lamp and other instruction that you have to give attention.

Located in Ravana Ella Sanctuary and it's an underground cave system directs to a pond known as "Nil Diya Pokuna" i.e "Blue Water Pond" which is scenic an filled with breathtaking beauty. There are guides who can be hired from the village and they will guide and provide all the necessary instructions. It is prohibited to enter into the sanctuary and these guides posses relevant license to enter in to the sanctuary. It is extremely dangerous to enter to the cave without these guiding people (locals in the village) and one wrong step will lead to serious consequences. Only these guides know where the step should be kept in each place in the cave and it is strictly recommended to adhere to all instructions provided. Some points of the cave is extremely slippery and muddy therefore it is advisable to wear appropriate footwear and clothes. Tour guides will provide lights, but it is recommended to take few flashlights since the cave is filled with utter darkness. The pond area is scenic and large and the maximum depth of the pond is around 92 feet. Better to follow relevant safety protocols (life jackets are not being provided) if any one is interested to swim in the pond at their own risk.
