This is the only hostel I know of in Kalpitiya. It is not in town, but on the beach between the 2 kite surfing lagoons. There is a great kite surfing school very close that will drive you twice a day to the lagoon to kite. There is a beach right in front of the hostel that is quiet and peaceful with incredible sunsets every evening. And the water is calm, definitely not like in the South of the country. I stayed for 2 weeks, and it was my favorite hostel so far in all of Sri Lanka. Layed back and has everything you need to hang out. There is a Pétanque court in the sand with other games to play that I forget the name of. Doug, the manager, is one of the coolest guys I have ever met. He is loads of fun, funny and has a big heart. You would be crazy to miss this place... clean, fun and relaxing. And In a good location for kite surfers. I loved this place!

Awesome place to stay during your kite surf trip in Kalpitiya. Doug is probably the nicest hostel owner I ever met. He's caring and for everything. Renting, planing trips, going out for a beer, breakfast, etc. Really nice host! Small Hostel with a nice comfy garden and kitchen. Highly recommended!
Had a shared dormitory and toilet and shower facilities and kitchen. Suitable for young singles or couples . Good eatery available within reasonable walking distances . Bicycles available if needed. Manager can arrange transport or any tours or sightseeing requirements you wish.
The best Hostel in Sri Lanka! 50 meter from the clear blue green Indian ocean where water is mostly 28 degrees all the year! Doug the Manager and his team will welcome you like a king and you will certainly remain more than expected! The beach is still wild and clean. I'm sure you won't regret it!
Great budget place to stay in Kalpitiya! 2mins away from the beach and close to the « city » if you want to buy food. The owners are really friendly and helpful! Rooms and bathroom are clean, there is also a kitchen where you can cook free water, tea and coffee!
Great hostel, a budget friendly option in kalpitya, most places are resorts. The owners and volunteers are all wonderful!! They have real coffee too!!
Stayed here for a short leg of my journey through Sri Lanka. Very social hostel and incredibly clean. Beach is a 1 minute walk away and a great place to go chill with some drinks. Doug the owner will go absolutely out of his way to make sure his guests are happy! P.s thanks again for sending my left behind shorts all the way back to Negombo! Absolute life saver! Keep up the good work Kalpitiya Beach Hostel!
I had an amazing time here just a few steps from the beautiful beach. And Doug’s hospitality is incredible!
