My best journey in hostel-guest house in skri lanka ! As very cheap (Between 150 and 3 in dormitory 270-350 roupees) and confortable (bed sleep very week and living room nice to relax and talk with others guest or staff) and staff very friendly I stay 3 nights. In dormitory room and shower clean. So quality price the best I find in all skri lanka ! And free refill water The location seems not the best but finaly not far of city 20 min walking distance (but need google maps so no mystake specially the first day) It’s true it’s up but good excercice if you like walk or take tuk tuk Because not in city but hills it’s very calm ! Of course sometime you hear the dogs but in SL it’s normal ! Wifi not good in dormitory but perfect in living room ! In skri lanka WiFi not good and expensive in house (cheap SIM card) And it’s nice to have real connection with staff. In this hostel the owner and staff are like your friends, for me it was this case. And enjoy a lot the time talking, eating and drinking together ! The only miss for me specially if you have long stay is kitchen for customer. But it’s not important as cooking in SL sometime is more expensive than to go in restaurant. Funk bunk has restaurant and terrasse. The chief and the food are amazing, specialy the fish or calamar spicy and very tasty ! I didn’t do the tours but in the hostel it’s possible to take some.

this place is very lovely. good food, friendly, helpful people. only getting 3 stars because of a bad laundry service experience. we were told our laundry was 6.5kg (no way is that true! and they avoided weighing it in front of us, despite our asking) and only charged less after we made a massive complaint against it. we were still charged 1250rs and it wasnt even clean when dropped off a day later than we were promised. buuuut I guess this is Sri Lanka, and it's to be expected. the art work was lovely and they seemed to have a good community staying and living in. one average experience shouldn't ruin yours!!

If you're after a great, affordable stay in Kandy...then this is the place! The host was super helpful and lovely...and very kind indeed. He was always on hand to offer advice and help in anyway he could. We had a blast staying there and met some lovely transient friends. Oh, and the pancakes were amazing! We're looking forward to seeing him again when we revisit Kandy.
