This was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever been afforded. Cooking 10 different Sri Lanka dishes in a beautiful Sri Lankan home in the hills of Kandy. I feel so privileged to have shared such wonderfully tasty & healthy food. Incredible value for money (3500 lkr) and I feel we have found a home & family away from home here.

Best choice! Stick with these guys. Their generosity and passion for cooking really makes the evening special. I gained a wealth of knowledge about flavours, new ingredients and cooking techniques that I will introduce into my kitchen as soon as I'm back. They cater to your specific dietary requirements and also offer a shuttle service. They have a homestay which, if I had the chance, would have loved to have stayed with them. Thank you so much for the experience!

Great cooking class! Food was amazing and the family is very lovely. It was a private class for just the two of us. Great option for vegetarians as you can make 10 different vegetarian dishes. Would highly recommend to anyone in the neighborhood of Kandy!

y driver/guide chose this and wow, am I glad he did. I had no idea what to expect, but it wasn’t this. I want to give 10 stars and encourage everyone to support this beautiful family. The owner picked me up in his tuk tuk to go to his house. He (and his wife) speak fabulous English and we chatted along the way. We then arrived at his beautiful home where his wife was waiting in the kitchen. We immediately started cooking, chopping, and I got an in depth lesson on spices and how to make coconut milk. Fresh passion fruit juice was offered as was bottled water (and beer for those who drink it). After cooking about 12 different dishes we went into the dining room. Over dinner we chatted about family, politics, Sri Lanka, education, America and more. Dessert was fresh fruit. The children also came to say hello and when I started showing pictures of my cat and dog they brought out their kittens and introduced me! What an amazing family that is working so hard to provide for their children and parents. This was hands down the best thing I’ve done in Sri Lanka so far.

Forget about just being the best cooking class in Kandy or even Sri Lanka, this was the best I've experienced anywhere in the world! It was much more than a cooking class, it was a rare opportunity to experience a how a Sri Lankan family home functions and learn about their culture. After doing a good cooking class in Ella, we thought we would try the Yummy Kandy Cooking class - it took it to the next level. In short - it was an unforgettable experience, the best night of our trip in Sri Lanka and worth every rupee! After being picked up (included as part of the class) from across the other side of Kandy, Ranees and his wife Chandricka welcomed us to their amazing home in the hills overlooking Kandy. We had a lovely fresh fruit juice and got to know each other before getting a tour of their authentic Sri Lankan kitchen and the fresh produce. We had booked last minute (on the day) and were lucky they had availability. On the day we let Ranees know we are vegetarian and would love to learn how to cook with jackfruit. We were blown away when he said they went to the market to get jackfruit and mushrooms just for us! From the fresh coconuts (picked from their own trees) to the range of spices - they had everything! The cooking class itself was amazing as we got to make 13 dishes, taste local tea/beer and got so many little cooking tips! But there was so much more to the experience. We looked at traditional wedding photos and got so much advice on where to go/what to do in Sri Lanka. Chandricka even met us in Kandy the following day to show us the cheap local shopping lanes. Our only regret was not having time in Kandy to stay in with them as we found out they also have a homestay room. Thank you Ranees and Chandricka, you are now like family and are welcome to our place if you are even in Australia!

What an amazing experience and an amazing family. Picked up in a tuk tuk and driven into the mountains on a beautiful evening. The food learnt to cook and the home still class was exceptional. The family have an incredible story and we considered ourselves grateful to be able to meet them. The class was only my girlfriend and I and we consider this one of the best things we did in our 4 weeks in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend.
