I am very disappointed about this location. Poorly maintain. The reason is not enough staff to maintain the location. Staff not motivated. I stayed here couple of times and today had a bad experience. At 3.00am in the morning some animal bit my leg. I was wake due to pain and found out it was a rat. Shocked to see and confused now. When I enter to room, there was some dots in the room floor and it reflected that not cleaned properly. Now I realised it was rat stools. When I search internet and found out there is a disease called "Rat stool disease". More confused now. Need to meet doctor early morning today. Don't recommend for any one and will not come for this location again.
Friendly staff. You can check in at any time you like. Cleaning is a major problem here. They don't focus on quality travellers. Food is not good but charging even for below 5 year kids.
Place is lovely. Mostly open, reception hall is a open one. But still so hot with the weather. They don't have enough fans. No washrooms outside, if you want a proper washroom you gotta go through a room. General washroom is not a really good one. Food was delicious, service was fine.
I wasn't impressed with Hotel Vihanga. I wasn't expecting much, but the mattresses were thin and uncomfortable, I wasn't given a top sheet to give me some protection from the mosquitoes in my room, and the wifi wasnt working as promised online. They didn't seem to be expecting me despite my reservation. Communicating with the guy at reception in English was nearly impossible and they waited until I was getting into bed to insist that I pay for a more expensive room for my driver and guide. Most places i had visited seemed to have dorm rooms for drivers. I could see spending a 1000 or 1500 rupees on driver accomadation, but they wanted 3000 and didn't mention it until I was already heading to bed. It seemed like a scam to squeeze some more money out of me. Live and learn. To be honest the hotel and rooms were very clean, but it was the first time in 5 weeks of traveling in Sri Lanka that I felt like someone was trying to squeeze me for cash instead of being eager to accommodate.
Ok place for overnight stay. Very spicy food, may be too hot
