Sam The Guide

This is one of the beautiful stations on the upcountry railway line. It consists of two platforms & this is the closest station to visit Nuwara Eliya. Its well maintained with greenery surroundings. It can be much cleaner than it is now. There is a waiting lounge for foreigners with sofas & toilet facilities inside. There is a different waiting area for males & females There is also toilet facilities located separately. Its much colder & windy when waiting to board a train during rainy seasons. The railway authorities can make this place much better & beautiful than it is now.

I visited this place many times. This is a such a nice place. Absolutely beautiful. The railway station is old. But it decorate it. Hope to visit again.

More time waiting at that station without any chairs... please update train timetables in web. We can't enter rest room , wash room etc... at our own time. We can enter on their (staff of CGR) time. It is more difficult thing for tourists for their bio matters

This is one of the busiest train stations in the main line. Its so because people use this as the Nuwara Eliya railway station. Though there are few trains reaching here those are very croweded with people. You can get the facility of reservation in this station.But it is wise to book you seat very earlier. The facilities are good. Rest rooms, toilets and a canteen are available. There is a separate rest room for foreigners here. The staff is friendly and supportive. The most important thing is that there is enough parking available.

It is one of the most attractive stations in Sri Lanka. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is the closest railway station to Nuwara Eliya. Staying an entire day here, You can get a bunch of experiences about culture here. Office and school trains passing the station depicts the life conditions of people in the hills. This is where the Nuwaraeliya bound narrow guage train started many years back. Buildings which stand here have been constructed many years back. A glance at them can make you imagine the golden past with steam locos chugging in an out of sheds and how tea boxes being loaded into wagons. Still the age old running shed and and the water pipes makes the station a precious link between present and the past.
