Tuk tuk rental is a fantastic way to see Sri Lanka at your own pace. Dayan made the process very easy by organising a local license and training. We visited Sri Lanka against advice not to because of the bombings, but we felt safe and had a fantastic time, enjoying the country, it's beauty and friendly, helpful people. It is important to help the struggling tourist industry at this time.

He has ruined our holiday. And this after 3 days of intense communication! Unfortunately he's English is not on the level that he understands the questions. That's why it needed so much time before he would understand them in the first place. And then he got really offended that I asked him about what would happen (insuranse wise) in case of an accident. (I think this is both important information, and it should be something he should kniw since he rents out tuktuk's for a living). But hes reaponse was: I don't rent to you. Absolutely not trust worthy. We've never ever been treated this way, I've been extremely patience and kind the entire time and then he just left us hanging and that ruined our 3 week holiday. NOT professional at all.
I rented a tuk tuk (3 wheeler) from Dayan Chinthaka for a 2 week self-drive tour of Sri Lanka. We did all the arrangements online via email before I arrived. Dayan applied for the Sri Lanka AA permit for me before my arrival. This permit is needed to drive/ride legally in Sri Lanka. When I arrived, Dayan came to meet me at my hotel with a tuk tuk of the color that I preferred. He helped familiarize me with the tuk tuk by giving a quick lesson on handling the tuk tuk. I already have a motorcycle licence, so it was quite easy for me to pick it up. It's just like riding a manual motorcycle, but easier since it has 3 wheels instead of 2. The tuk tuk was in great condition. It was very new - only 4 months old. It was very reliable and didn't break down during the 2 weeks I was riding around Sri Lanka. The tuk tuk was a Bajaj RE205, which is easily serviced by the numerous Bajaj workshops in every town and city, so even if there were issues with the tuk tuk, it was easily resolved. Luckily, I didn't have to resort to this. This little guy allowed me to visit many parts of this beautiful country without having to rely on public transportation or hire expensive cars. On this tuk tuk, I visited Colombo, Kandy, Dambulla, Sigirya, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Nuwara Eliyah, Weligama, Mirissa, Kosgoda and Pinnawala. All beautiful and unique in their own ways. Dayan's company is CeylonTusker Tours, and he also arranges group or private tours of Sri Lanka by cars, buses and mini-buses. He also rents motorcycles, so the range of options is pretty wide. I would highly recommend Dayan and CeylonTusker tours.

Vorig jaar hebben wij een tuktuk gehuurd bij Dayan. Buiten dat het een zeer sympathieke man is heeft hij alles voor ons geregeld zoals een geldig rijbewijs, leren rijden in de tuktuk en zelfs te woord staan mocht de politie je aanhouden. Zelf zijn we een keer aangehouden omdat wij over een doorgetrokken streep heen reden. Dayan heeft telefonisch de politie gesproken en we konden verder rijden. Hij is altijd erg druk bezig en probeert voor iedereen het beste te regelen. Wij zijn hem ontzettend dankbaar voor de mooie vakantie die wij hebben gehad in Sri Lanka!
Alquiler de tuktuk muy recomendable! El dueño nos tramitó las licencias y todo lo necesario, y se encargó de que a la llegada estuviera todo listo. Disfrutamos del viaje y nos devolvieron la fianza sin ninguna pega. La experiencia ha sido muy positiva!
