If you want to visit the largest herd of wild elephants in Sri Lanka, Minneriya is a perfect national park. With a dry zone ecosystem, this national park is also ideal for bird watching during the dry season.

Visited 2 yrs ago and it was amazing!!! I saw around 500(!) elephants and few more animals. Honestly...see elephants living so freely in such a nice nature is blessing :) absolutely worth it!

Love that place..but this season is not suitable to view animals..The guide says that August is the best month to view animals. Because they all are coming to same water resource. And there is government holiday bungalow in the forest. If you want to book that you should book it at colombo.

The experience was great. There was a somewhat of a delay in issuing the tickets for the park. Otherwise it is worth the money spent.

One of the famous locations to watch elephants.. There are about herds with size of 40/50. You can experience the beautiful existing behaviours every closely. Must go place for nature lovers. This good to go before November, from November to Jan it is the rainy season and during that period you can see only small groups and limited access inside forest. Best time is to April to sept. This is the place where you can see twin elephant babies... Best place for researchers.. Safari will cost about 2500.

️ We went here as part of our tour and had a great time. I was amazed at how many elephants we saw and how close they came to the jeep. When we started out there were a lot of jeeps in convoy but then we spread out and it was much better. A fun afternoon

You wouldn't see much animals, but experience is great, but we were fortunate see a lots of elephants at a very close proximity. It was amazing. Kids would love this place, driving through the jungle. Get a good guide to show you the place. I recommend Madura 0774727125.

Nice Park to visit, Newly born twin Elephants I saw on during my tour.All the trip is take 3 hours.35 km to 40 km track.elephants,deer,eagles,peacocks,fox,corocadiles are mainly you can see.Lepords can be seen rarely.Minneriya tank covered half of the park space. You can get a safari jeep from the Entrance Rs 3500.00 for tour.
