A one of a kind masterpiece. One can never get enough of the garden. Everything is different, unique or quirky. The staff for super friendly and they know almost everything about the history of this place and Geoffrey Bawa. If you are there, you must talk to the staff as they know all the untold stories. Rooms are different as well. Not the typical luxury hotel experience you get. From rustic walls, artistic bathrooms to antique electronics, all their rooms are different from one to another. The food was great as expected from a Teardrop Hotel. Overall, the stay at Lunuganga was one of a kind.

Lunuganga is an estate that was transformed by the elite Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa since the estate was acquired in 1948, until the day he died. Currently, it is a country hotel maintained by Teardrop Hotels, under the supervision of Lunuganga Trust. There are 6 types of rooms; from which our favorite was the Gallery Studio. The environment is serene and the feeling you get while walking in the estate is simply out of this world. The hospitality was excellent and the adherence of COVID-19 health protocols was up to standard with frequent temperature checks done on the visitors.

We had a wonderful stay at Lunuganga. The beauty of the place is quite inexpressible. So many stories behind every nook and corner. Important fact to travelers exiting the Welipenna exit : Do call the property and get the directions clarified. The route shown in Google maps is far and the road is not great. Kudos to Teardrop Hotels for the warm hospitality. Food was absolutely delicious. Lunuganga is not your everyday vacation. It's more.

The Lunuganaga country estate is a culmination of 50 years of Bawa's life and career. The lush gardens, ponds , eclectic art pieces and curiosities at every turn is a delight to be indulged in at leisure. It's best to spend a quiet few hours strolling the grounds of over 15 acres of garden space. The place has 5 rooms for accommodation and is a superb experience.

Absolutely stunning architecture, views and landscaping. One can see how well Bawa balanced nature and man made structure, making both compliment each other. Definitely a site worth visiting if you could gain access.

It's a beautiful setting, a sprawling area of about 16 acres. Getting about is mostly on foot though on rougher than normal terrain. Older people *may* also find it difficult to get about.
