We got in to a tuk, and the driver suggested that we visit this place.Even being a Srilankan we had all the reasons to believe that this is another tourist trap.I did my research and most of the companies do their advertising through tuk drivers because advertising is expensive and there is a lot of competition among jewelry stores.For them to advertise the tuk drivers get a commission and according to what I found out they also have to be authorized to do so.Anyhow it is a trusted company and it has been there for a while.The authenticity certificate is offered by the company it self.But if you are not sure you could get an authenticity certificate offered by the government at the “jem and jewelry authority” of Srilanka.It’s a bit expensive for locals and free for foreigners.It took me some effort and a lot of research to gain this information and trust the company.But after all I’m glad I trusted this store.They were very descriptive and advised very well in all types of natural jewels.So you could go through all and choose the best jewel for the best price.After all the value of the jewel only depends if it’s natural.On top of that the value could still be lost the way that it’s cut.So basically there is a lot to consider when you buy a jem.

Do not go here, this place is a scam! We were brought to this shop by a local man who chatted with us and said he was en route to seeing a Hindi festival and asked if we would like to join us. We agreed and when we jumped into the tuk tuk with him, he said he wanted to introduce a gem store that his brother opened and that Sri Lanka is known for locally produced blue saphires. We ended up at this store where the staff showed us some gems and stones (even to our untrained eyes, the stuff look fake) and said they were going for a bargain price of 1 rupee per carat because there is a special sale. We listened politely to their spiel and got the hell out of there. DO NOT GO.
They have great products but a bit pricey.
