The Kandy Esala Perahera (the Esala procession of Kandy) also known as The Festival of the Tooth is a grand festival celebrated with elegant costumes and is held in July and August in Kandy, Sri Lanka. This historical procession is held annually to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, which is housed at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy. A unique symbol of Sri Lanka, the procession consists of many traditional local dances such as fire-dances, whip-dances, Kandyan dances and various other cultural dances, in addition to the elephants who are usually adorned with lavish garments.

"Esela Perahara" is Buddhist festival that yearly celebrates in month of August in secret city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It starts with ceremony of planting 'Kap'followed by five "Kumbal Perahara" and four "Randoli Perahara". Final Randoli perahara is the most colourful perahara and it constraints with hundreds of dancing troops with lot of elephants and tusks. Karanduwa of secret toothrelic can witness in the last Randoli perahara. Perahara ceremony ends with "Day Perahara" after "Diyakapima" event.
