Amazing mid week break here this week. I took my family from Colombo for a couple of nights. The kids loved it and it was a very relaxing time for me and my wife to get away from the city and really into nature. We went for a beautiful swim in the river and ate lots of good food!

My partner and I travelled up from Colombo for a weekend away last weekend. We had a great stay in a cabin set right amongst the beautiful forest. The food was delicious and some peace and quiet was just what we needed. The trekking guide Prasad was very informative, he took us to a secluded waterfall and we were able to swim. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Great place. Clean and tidy, very relaxed. We stayed in a cabana with the most picturesque view I've ever seen, over looking a huge lake and beautiful mountains. The view changes so much over the course of the day, it's beautiful. Of course also important to mention the great staff and guides to take you on all kinds of walks. We took the soft walk with our 4 year old and we all loved it, especially swimming at the waterfall. They grow a lot here, including their own coffee.

Realising we were probably extremely unlucky with our experience, given the many positive reviews. We stayed 4 nights over Christmas, the first one in the Parrot house which is one of the oldest houses and built of clay. Room was very damp, smelled like basement and we had dead ants falling on the beds. In addition there was no hot water. With no discussion management kindly moved us to one of their newest houses which was built of a clay/concrete mix. Less damp so we were initially happy untill we had constant issues with the water. It ranged from "just" no hot water to no water at all. Staying 4 nights in the humid jungle, trekking and being covered in sunscreen and mosquito oils we would shower twice a day. I had two hot showers during our stay - otherwise cold or impossible due to no water. The last night we got a lot of rain and the roof proved to leak over the luggage storage area ruining some of our gear. Lastly, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, mattresses being so thin that you'd wake up from the impact every time you turned around. It's a shame that the facilities proved inferior cause the staff at the eco lodges make this place tick. They tried their best to assist us throughout. They offered amazing guided hikes through the jungle and did everything to make us happy. The star is for them as it's thanks to them that we didn't leave prematurely. We ended up getting a discount as compensation, but it was more of a bargaining situation than something management gave us to make up for the poor facilities and ruined gear. It left us with a bitter aftertaste. Of all the 11 places we stayed in Sri Lanka this one was by far the least value for money - even after the discount.

Very nice lodge, attentive and very friendly staff. We also did the tour to the waterfall and learned a lot about the plants grown in the area. Definitely a must see if you like a quiet lodge in the jungle.

Just beautifully relaxing! The owner Nihal is a character and full of stories considering his family have owned the land for generations. They really are wanting to be a sustainable business. Recommended!!
