Anuradha Piyadasa

This is the oldest academic society of Sri Lanka, which established in 1845. Its founding interests varied from the religion, history, literature, sociology, geology, botany and zoology of Sri Lanka. The society played a major role in establishing the National Museum of Sri Lanka. The society office is located in the Mahaweli Center, which is located the land initially used by the society from the British Period. The main academic publication of the society, the journal is the oldest academic journal of Sri Lanka which started in 1846.
