Good place for bird watching and wild life... best time to visit will be from around October to March.. Guides at the park are very knowledgeable.

The Bundala National Park is one of the best parks in south Sri Lanka, good to reach from Tissamaharama. Very much animals and interesting places in the park. You can see crocodiles, elephants, many different types of birds and many other beautiful animals in the park. The bad thing is, that the buildings and the streets (also the one, that goes to the park) are not very good and don‘t get repaired.

Bundala is a less crowded national park famous for migratory water birds in Sri Lanka. You may also find a few species of amphibians and reptiles. We were lucky enough to see an elephant too. This is an ideal location for dry zone bird watching tours. It has been reported nearly 197 species of birds. However, it is recommended to go as early as possible in the morning. A jeep with a wildlife tracker can be hired easily from the area.

A great place to bird watching. There is no rush like in yala. Less vehicles even in a weekend.

One of the very scenic national parks in Sri Lanka. Less crowded and peaceful. Can see local and migrated water birds and also elephants. Safari jeep need to be hired to go around the place.

One of the best bird sanctuaries. Can find safari jeeps near the entrance most of the time. Road condition till the entrance is good. And parking space also available.

Great place for bird watching. A smaller wild life park located in hambantota district closer to yala national park. Much less crowded than yala. But lesser animals as well other than birds. Birds can be seen inside the park and in the saltern next to the park. Early morning is the best time to visit.

This is a real beauty. Unlike its much more famous cousin, the Yala park, this one is much less visited by tourists but its attractions are really worth the visit. Full of beautiful birds but also elephants, crocodiles and other animals this is a must see whilst in Sri Lanka. We went on an afternoon safari. It was perfect. There were so many birds most of them I had never heard of.
