A group of highly motivated professionals who have reached climax in their professional careers have volunteered to set up a Digital Manufacturing infrastructure in Sri Lanka as a community outreach project. This is envisaged as a project that will create an abundance of opportunity to the Sri Lankan youth, whose wealth of talent often goes wasted due to scarcity of opportunities available. This will also revolutionize the manufacturing sector while preserving the environment, contributing immensely to the economy of Sri Lanka. The objectives and strategies of the project as follows, 1. A FabLab is implemented as a social enterprise with the aim of empowerment and economic development of a rural community in Sri Lanka. 2. The main purposes are knowledge sharing, enhance innovation and technology transfer in community development. 3. The project will be developed using multi- stakeholder approach with the participation and the consultation of Universities, the government, private sector, NGOs, community and other key players. 4. The project has been started as a pilot test in a small scale and it is expected to join as a FabLab global network will be satisfied later. Our Vision is that Sri Lanka will embrace the power of Digital Manufacturing Technology in transforming the country to a manufacturing based economy.
