In the current Sri Lankan context, the universities are functioning in an isolated manner. Ideally, the industry should turn towards the Universities to solve their biggest problems. But, that is not quite the case right now. Many initiatives have been taken to bridge this gap which has made several strides towards achieving that. We, as IEEE Sri Lanka intend to lead the effort in that having members from both industry and academia. The newly formed Industry Application Society Sri Lanka Chapter will definitely be a huge boost to the process. It will also enable us to attract more members for the Section, and in turn, for the common cause. Currently, IEEE IAS Sri Lanka Chapter comprises with three student chapters in University of Moratuwa, University of Peradeniya and University of Ruhuna.
