This is good place to spot wild elephants very closely. However most people visit either Minneriya or Kaudulla national parks. But in some seasons elephants migrate to this eco park. So best to discuss with your guide or hotel personnel to check which park to visit . This is located very close to habarana junction and you can get a safari jeep from habarana itself. Jeep costs 3500. Entrance ticket prices vary depending on the people count. For 10 of us it cost 1456. We could see plenty of wild elephants during our safari. And one elephants tried to attack our Jeep. It was a thrilling experience. However you will only see elephants here. It’s very hard to see any other animal here.

We took the safari jeep from Girithale hotel. It took about 1/2hr to get to the entrance. We chose Eco Park over Minneriya because the elephants were migrating to Eco park during this period and the guide guaranteed the site of elephants there but not at Minneriya. Ride was great. Sited elephants at many places and the breathtaking view from the viewpoint was amazing.

One of the best places to see elephants. Less crowded compared to other forests.

The only type of animals you can expect to see are elephants. The viewable number of elephants are depend on the season. Rarely can see some peacocks too. 4,000 LKR for 2 hrs of jeep safari. Entrance tickets are not so expensive ( should be less than 100 LKR). So make sure to buy the tickets from the counter on your own. (Our jeep driver asked for a 1,000 LKR note to buy tickets for 2 adults, but didn't return the balance. The optimum time to see elephants is 2-3 pm. Better to wear a hat with a strap around the chin to avoid sun burn. Normal caps tend to fly away with the wind. Sunglasses and sunscreens will be handy. When there only few elephants to see, then the safari is not worth the money

We were able to see only few animals. Safari was limited only for 1 1/2 hours although they agreed to spend 3 or 4 hours for the safari according to the agreed fee.
