We went on 2 safaris: one evening and the following morning. Chamara gave us our money’s worth. 2 leopard sitings, elephants, deers, birds and many more. He was well versed in the ocean of bird species found in the area, giving us a memorable bird watching experience. He also knew all the right spots to go to. Would highly recommend it for everyone.

Chamara was an amazing guide. We did the full day tour and saw the amazing leapord with a cub, elephants and bunch of other great animals like buffalo and monkeys. The full day starts at 4.45am but the park only opens at 6am. Also there is a long lunch between 12 and 2pm so bring a book or blanket to have a nap on the ground or in your van. The vegetarian lunch was amazing as always and cooked by his mum. This was a wonderful day in Yala and couldn't recommend it more.

THE GOOD: Friendly staff Patient Great curry THE NOT SO GOOD: nothing We were very happy booking our safari with them, that we ended up booking our birding tour with them the following day. Chamwara was very friendly and did not drive around like a crazy person like some of the guides do. We got to see leopards, elephants, sloth bears and many birds. The lunch that is provided was delicious, like many others have said, it was one of the tastiest curries we had in Sri Lanka. I think they should open a restaurant.

Just booked Chamara again for a trip to Yala and Bundala. Looking forward to another great visit.

Meh. We did other safaris during our time in Sri Lanka and this was easily the worst. It was not terrible, just worse than the others. We did a half day at Yala, we were the only people in the Jeep. The driver was quiet and fairly stand-offish. He drove us to interesting sites, but offered no commentary and seemed bored.

Our safari with Chamara was so good we took 2 more with him!! The private trips were totally tailored to us and Chamara’s wealth of experience & eagle eyes ensured we got to see plenty of wildlife including lots of birds, at a great pace with time to stop and take it all in for however long we wanted. Also it was excellent value for money because Chamara speaks such good English (as well as several other languages) which means there’s no need to hire a park guide to translate for you. We took half day (morning) safaris to Yala & Bundala then a full day to Yala. I’d recommend the full day at Yala as we thought we were more likely to see leopards in the morning but we actually saw them from about 4pm (5 sightings of 4 different leopards - we were SO lucky!).

Well I must honestly say that Chamara of Ceylon Safari was the best! He picked from our hotel at 4:30am with a genuine smile! 45min. Later we were 10th in line at the Yala gate enterance. When the park opened we left the mad pact of trucks by ditching them at a spur road.Through out the morning and afternoon we stopped at all creatures great and small. Mean while, the other guides were racing by and missing everything else in between. His English is good and he went well beyond his responsibility as a guide. We went for the full day safari and would recommend a full day to everyone! In total we saw over 40 elephants... A plethora of birds, Crocs, mongooses (8) boars with there young and a rabbit with its young.... This man misses nothing.... And to our amazement a 1.5 month old elephant. Oh! His mum makes the best curry chicken in Tissa! Well Chamara we will see you again in 2019!
